Just Wait Until Your Father Comes Home

It finally happened. I’d been expecting it since I was pregnant but this was the first time. Kirk being naughty and wasn’t listening to his daddy and I heard Mr. b say, "Do you want me to call your mother in here?" Yep. I’m the threat. I’m the heavy. I always knew this day would come.

Ha! I can be a tough guy too, but I'm also a well known pushover. I thought that just threatening having you come in would be sufficient. You're all no-nonsense. I thought it was funny that he would rather surrender the offending object to me than have it taken away by you.

Our mom was the heavy in our house. She is pretty strict on discipline (not the military kind, but the you-will-do-as-I-say kind). She kinda had to be though, 'cause my dad worked long hours and travelled.

To this day, dogs owned by members of the family start behaving when they hear the words "That's Enough."

Same here. Esther's daddy is a pushover!

Mom was the disciplinarian at our house, but mostly because Dad wasn't a really involved parent. My mom had gone somewhere one day (the grocery store or something) and a friend of mine called to ask if I could come over to play. I said I had to wait until Mom got home to ask her, because "my dad won't know if I'm allowed or not."

Hmmm, that's interesting. So I wonder if the "fear of dad" is a 50's thing and not actually a general human experience thing?
